Our Story
Family Roots
Our grandmothers both tended beautiful gardens,
parts of which are still with us today.
Grandma Becky & Grandma Betty
My grandmother, Betty (right), and my husband's grandmother, Becky (left), were both avid gardeners. Among our family's most prized possessions are Betty's daylilies and Becky's peonies, which live on in our gardens today.
Becky grew peonies for her floral design business. She received the tubers from her grandmother, who was born in 1852, so these peonies are a living connection to generations of family.
Betty added new daylilies to her garden each year, sharing them with us as they grew. Our garden has ten beautiful varieties that were passed down from her.
We look forward to Grandma Becky's peonies and Grandma Betty's lilies blooming each year. When they do, we remember them, and this brings us so much joy.
I'm so glad you're here...
Digging in gardens has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From a very young age, my mom taught me the difference between weeds and prized native plants. Each summer, I would cut flowers from our garden, arrange them in vases, and decorate my bedroom.
At 15 years old, I started my first paid job working at Pike Nurseries in Atlanta. I wasn't old enough to drive myself to work, but my mom was happy to take me since she was always there shopping. This was the late '80s, and there were no tags to scan at checkout, so I quickly learned the names of plants.
As a young homeowner, caring for a nearly half-acre yard was a new challenge. So, I took classes in residential landscape design. For nearly thirty years, I've been planting and learning what works in our Carolina soil all while working in fundraising, digital marketing, and raising our now two young adults.
My learning continues as I earn a Certificate of Mastery in Garden and Landscape from NC State’s Department of Horticultural Science. I am a member of Digging In, a national professional association for container designers.
I love creating beautiful outdoor spaces for people to enjoy and would be honored to work with you.
Warmly, Jenny Hitt
